Home Invasion Scam-What To Watch Out For

click for more info
This is a story out of Colorado Springs, Colorado, where local TV station KOAA did a story about people roaming around neighborhoods dressed as security guards, Comcast repairmen and even utility workers. They do so to perpetrate a scam on homeowners and gain entry into their homes. The idea has been around for a long time but it seems to be gaining in popularity, especially with senior citizens who are more naïve. You can read the rest of the story What To Watch Out For I learned this in a neighborhood watch meeting but I've heard it before. Never, never let anybody into your house unless you know who they are and why they are there. Just because someone is wearing a Comcast label on his shirt, doesn't necessarily mean he works for Comcast. A man dressed as a security guard may be nothing more than a common criminal trying to rip you off. Always ask for identification. If there is any doubt, call the company and asked for verification. Be especially suspicious of people who show up unannounced without an appointment. Our Pepper Shot Tri Pack has a wall mount you can place by your front door to hold a defensive spray for emergencies.
