Domestic Violence-Could It Happen To You?

We saw a headline recently where a recent survey conducted during Domestic Violence month reported that 98% of adults in California believe that domestic violence can happen to anyone. Statistics of all kinds back that up. Domestic violence crosses all racial, ethnic, age, religious belief, social and economic barriers. There are a wide variety of reasons why domestic violence is so under reported in the first place. Among them are shame and fear of reprisal, not just from the spouse but you can include a spouse's family. Until recently there was plenty of anecdotal evidence that showed reporting a domestic violence assault rarely got the attention that it deserved. So you can add that to the mix of the reasons why it wasn't reported. When you look to the causes for domestic violence they are as varied as you can possibly get. Chief among them are economic conditions. Disagreements and arguments over finances in a family cause a great deal of stress, which frequently leads to physical confrontations including murder. Poverty, low education levels, social status and mental illness all follow suit as possible reasons or causes for domestic violence. What can women do to prevent an assault in a domestic violence situation? To this day, the best way to prevent an assault in any kind of a situation is with some type of self-defense products such as pepper spray or a stun gun. They can disable an assailant-even a spouse-for as much as 45 minutes allowing you time to escape a dangerous situation and seek help. Pepper sprays, in particular, are legal in all jurisdictions with very few restrictions. After all, we are talking about an assault which can and has led to serious injury, including death. You have a right to defend yourself in any way that you can. We recommend this Sabre brand Stop Strap Spray because if it is taken from you it cannot be used against you.
